Bereavement education in schools

With the start of a new school year, it’s great to know that children in England will begin learning about bereavement in an age-appropriate way as part of the updated Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) curriculum.

With one child in every classroom, on average, having experienced the death of someone close, this vital addition will help normalise conversations around grief, support emotional wellbeing, and nurture empathy and compassion from an early age.

We appreciate that conversations around bereavement can be very difficult at any age and we are here to support professionals in delivering the health and wellbeing curriculum. If you or any staff at your school need advice or training, please do contact us at support@balloonscharity.co.uk.
